NAMI, is a great organization that has been a huge part of my recovery. The first course I took, was Peer-2-Peer. Since then, I have been trained to give educational programs, such as a state Connection trainer, provider training, and a connection facilitator. I am a member of the NAMI Dallas and facilitate support groups twice a month. I am heavily involved with the Spanish community in NAMI.
Via Hope, is a collaboration with the state of Texas, along with other MHMR organizations that trained me as a peer specialist. A peer specialist is a " been there too " type mentor, that gets paid for their services at clinics and hospitals. They provided me with some of the best tools I could ever have for recovery.
